AFTRA Unveils Online Service For Members To Post Talent Reels
LOS ANGELES (Sept. 12, 2006) -- An online talent review service where AFTRA members can securely post video and audio demos was unveiled by the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
“The AFTRA Broadcast Talent Review offers a private and secure system for members to submit talent reels to prospective employers and others,” said AFTRA National Executive Director Kim Roberts Hedgpeth. “This online service will provide password-protected instant access and permit AFTRA members and their franchised agents to seek increased employment opportunities with confidentiality and convenience.”
The online service -- which was green lighted recently by the AFTRA National Board at the recommendation of the AFTRA National Broadcast Steering Committee -- will allow AFTRA members to create personal profile pages that can be easily updated and include talent reels available for online viewing.
The low-cost service is targeted to AFTRA members seeking employment as anchors, reporters, sportscasters, weathercasters, disc jockeys, or hosts in radio and television. Members will be able to save money and time by avoiding mailing or overnighting countless tapes, and instead offer instant secured access to talent reels to whomever they choose.
Depending upon response to this service, AFTRA will investigate providing similar service to members in other membership categories.
