SAG, AFTRA, AMPTP TO RECONVENE IN EARLY JANUARY

Los Angeles, CA, December 16, 2004  - Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) announced today that negotiations on a new three-year TV/Theatrical contract have recessed until January 5.  The unions and studios have been meeting since December 6 at AMPTP headquarters in Encino, California.

“We came to the negotiating table ready to bargain a fair deal for our members and to keep the industry working, and we will continue working towards that goal when we resume talks after the holidays,” said SAG National Executive Director and CEO Bob Pisano, who, along with AFTRA National Executive Director Greg Hessinger, serves as chief negotiator for the unions.

“We look forward to returning from the holidays to negotiate to conclusion a fair and equitable contract,” said Nicholas J. Counter, President, AMPTP. “We will use this time productively, further studying the proposals and data of the numerous complex issues before us.”
