
AFTRA STATEMENT
May 5, 2004 - On behalf of the American
Federation of Television and Radio Artists, National President
John Connolly issued the following statement regarding the ongoing
negotiations between the Writer’s Guild and the AMPTP;AFTRA
encourages the AMPTP to work diligently and creatively to reach
a mutually acceptable agreement with the Writers Guild. Many of
the issues raised in these talks resonate with workers throughout
our industry, and AFTRA members across the country stand in solidarity
with our colleagues at the WGA as they seek equitable solutions.
AFTRA is a diverse union
representing nearly 80,000 performers, broadcasters, sound recording
artists and other professionals in television, radio, sound recordings,
commercials, non-broadcast/industrial programming and new technologies
such as interactive programming and CD ROMs.
