AFTRA Audiobook Talent CD

Houston Local members are standing united with our brothers and sisters across the state and around the county—and that includes, of course, San Antonio and Austin. Together, we’re surfing the tidal wave of new employment opportunities for performers. But if, as too many have, you have allowed your union membership to slide, best get those dues paid up and “get back on the surfboard.”

The Houston Local, as you know, is hosting Script to Screen, a wonderful opportunity for professional actors to interact with established screen writers—keeping our skills honed, and allowing them to show their goods to possible investors, and tweaking their writing.

For years, Bob Green (Bob Green Productions) and I have pondered why we don’t do something here with recorded books—an industry that has taken off in our major cities, and is now in “Anywhere” U.S.A.  

AFTRA members-only will have the opportunity to record 5 selections from a variety of books of our liking at Bob Green’s studio. We will dupe and send out to major (and good minor) audio publishers. This is no small task. There are a handful of us who are working very hard to make this happen.

You will need: your paid-up AFTRA membership card, five 2 – 3 minute selections from a sampling of books, i.e., children’s, technical, romance, mystery, and (making this up) newspaper. He will edit down to one minute per selection, add soft effects in background. We will send out in a beautifully designed CD package to folks in this industry who have expressed an interest in hearing an all professional sampling from us. AFTRA members will be responsible for $50. You can’t beat this with a stick!
