Mass. Gov. Proposes Lowering Film & TV Tax Credit
Gov. Deval Patrick has suggested to the state’s legislature that the Massachusetts Film and TV Tax Credit be capped at $50 million per year. With tax credits averaging between $75 million to $100 million per year, this could reduce potential production in the state by as much as one half.

Legistation Update
The state's Joint Committee on Ways and Means reported Gov. Deval Patrick’s Supplemental Budget out of committee. The Supplemental Budget did not include the governor’s proposal to cap the state’s Film and TV Tax Credit at $50 million.

April Update
On April 14, the Massachusetts House Committee on Ways and Means released its FY11 House Budget. The House Budget did not include language capping the state's Film and TV Tax Credit. Legislators still have an opportunity, however, to file amendments that might affect the credit. The House will debate in formal sessions any proposed amendments to its budget the week of April 26.
