This event presents an approach to classical text work that is visceral, instinctive, creative and playful. Actors will experience an approach to voice and speech work useful for all forms of text. Exploring the relationship of sound-equals-sense as a jumping-off point, actors will experience a visceral connection to Shakespeare's texts. The result is ownership and embodiment of complex language that is organic and dynamic. Participants will also learn how to perform a complete vocal warm-up.

Please wear loose clothing. Bring a yoga mat if possible, but it isn't essential.
Gigi Buffington--AEA, SAG, AFTRA, and VASTA member--is a voice and text coach, voice over artist and performer currently based in Chicago. She coached the 2008 season of the Royal Shakespeare Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet (with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart), and Love's Labour's Lost (with David Tennant), and teaches Advanced Voice Training and Acting III/Shakespeare at Columbia College Chicago.
Space is limited to 16 participants. Please, DO NOT register if you aren't sure you can make it. If you do register and then need to cancel, please call the AFTRA/SAG office ASAP so we can fill the spot from the waiting list. No-shows will rob other AFTRA and SAG members of this special opportunity. We want 16 members to benefit from this training!
